SDOT will be repaving 12th Avenue between Pike and Madison Streets on July 20-21. Looks like they plan to keep one lane open to traffic during this time and the sidewalks will also remain open.
That means that the The 12th Avenue Neighborhood Festival will be home to a freshly paved and beautiful street!
Questions about the repaving? Check out the SDOT website.

On Monday April 5th Mayor McGinn officially endorsed the Broadway Two-Way Streetcar Alignment (map below) for the First Hill Streetcar. This comes after the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) presented the same recommendation to him in mid-March. The official SDOT recommendation package can be found here.
Broadway Two-Way Alignment
With this recommendation the Broadway-12th Ave Couplet seems nearly dead, but it is important to note that McGinn made a clear commitment to north/south transit on 12th in his letter to City Council here.
The 12th Avenue Stewardship Committee is currently strategizing about how to influence the discussion regarding moving a Metro bus route to 12th. An update will be provided on this at the next meeting on Tuesday, April 13th at 5:30pm at the Seattle U A+A Building (824 12th, corner of 12th and Marion). Please join us if you would like to get more involved in this issue!

Check out this Stranger article advocating for a streetcar on 12th Avenue! This is the first in a month-long series of articles in the Stranger outlining critical "marching orders" for City leaders. We’re excited that the 12th Avenue streetcar made the first group!

SDOT has finally announced the public forums on the First Hill Streetcar line, due to complete construction and start running by 2013. There will be three meetings this week and at each SDOT will present the alignments being considered and general information about the project. Alignment alternatives can be found here.
There is an alignment on the table that includes 12th Avenue, commonly referred to as the Broadway-12th Ave Couplet. This alignment is compelling for a variety of reasons, including speed of service, ability to catalyze neighborhood commercial development on 12th and consistency with the intent of the lost light rail station, which was planned for Madison, just west of Broadway.
Regardless of which alignment you support, please come out to learn about this project and how it might impact your community!
